The tutoring service was set up by House of the Sauropods in recognition of the fact that we have a number of forum members going through school. The tutoring program offers help with homework, proof-reading with essays or papers, and general advice with any type of school work. This can be done through the Study Room Chat, or by getting in touch with any of our tutors. In short, we wanted to make sure that the time people spent on here wasn't just a distraction from life and school and work, but could also be a help in all those things. The economic system is actually in the process of being developed right now! It's quite exciting for us, as although we've had a regional currency for a while (the Hamster Drop) until now we haven't been able to do much with it. We now have shops, we're working out salaries for jobs, and turning it into a fully functioning economy. Thanks to the Commerce Committee for all their hard work on this! For more information on businesses and the economy, talk to one of The Church of Satan or HumanSanity.

The Great Houses were designed as a way for individuals to get involved in a group, and to allow people to follow particular paths and interests as we build the RIA. The three houses each have their own focus, aiming to provide something different to the region.
House of the Regal Hamster - The Renegade Newspaper and Governmental processes House Kittens - Fun, creativity, and role-playing House of the Sauropods - Education and learning
By this division of purposes, each House adds something to the flavour of the RIA. Influence reviews are posted every few months, giving incentive for the Houses to put out activities and ideas that will have long-term benefits to the region.
As the Houses grow (they are, as yet, a new initiative) they'll each be able to expand into new areas and collect like minded members who believe in their aims.

What's with the government? It seems a bit inactive to me. And in the June election thread, where there were four seats up for grabs, only three people contested it. But that's assuming I count. Which I might not. Since I was constitutionally ineligible. And also because my declaration of intent read, "I'd like to run for the chair of La-Z-Boy. But if I can't do that, I'd be fine with Ikea." And am I going crazy, or was there a Senate forum that existed only a couple days ago but now doesn't? What's up with the government? Has it gone kaput?

Our government, when operating, is about as stable as a marble in a bowl of jello held by a man operating a jackhammer on a moving roller coaster in the middle of an earth quake. It's subject to constant change in process and method, but in all, it's pretty much changing just to keep everything fresh and everyone involved.
But, as the region stands right now, we're feeling a bit of a down time. To be honest, the regional government isn't really operating like it usually does. But all it really takes are a handful of interested and persistent people and the RIA senate could be back up, online, and running at capacity.
If you're interested, feel free to start working in that direction however you please. Some chatter on the RMB about where to go next is always a good way to start.
